The Birthday Surprise

Below are a few pictures of a recently completed project that has a history. This project began in 2005 by my daughter Jennifer. The problem was that neither one of us had tried bead crochet. All the beads were strung but now what? A few days before her birthday this January, (Thursday evening and Sunday was the party) I was going to try to get her started by doing a few rounds and asked for her project. After many unsuccessful tries I think I made history and had the rope crocheted! Then I decided to finish it and surprise her for her birthday. Here's a picture too of the birthday girl with her necklace.

The Grapevine

Here's a picture of a recent finished project of mine. I had seen a bracelet in the bead magazines that advertise for the bead shows out West and for some reason I really wanted to make something similar. After a few years of flipping through the magazines to find the bracelet, I finally started my grapevine bracelet with a peyote tube and then created my clumps of grapes. The leaves were attached and then it sat dormant for a year before I decided on the finishing touches. The vines were then added along with the beaded clasp. It's now becoming one of my favorite pieces.
